“Right from the SHS, even though they say it is free, there are still a lot of problems. One of the things that I wanted to do is to see how best I can support students from the SHS level to whatever level. Over the period, I have supported almost 200 students.”

The MP for the Chiana-Paga constituency, Thomas Adda Dalu said when he spoke to A1 Radio in a recent interview.

Mr. Dalu explained that because of the upsides of education, he has found it necessary to part with various sums of money to support students who reach out to him.

“Even those who are doing Ph.Ds also applied. There is nothing you can do. It is very small but I believe people appreciate it. These days, there are no admission fees but there are petty things they need to buy before they go to school.”

Additionally, the MP supported the District Education Directorate to conduct a mock exam for students in the area.

Earlier, the MP said some widows within the Chiana-Paga constituency would receive his support in the coming days. The support would be directed at helping widows transform shea nuts into butter.

For the widows already in that line of business, the support would help them expand their business so that they can earn larger incomes to support their homes in the absence of their husbands.
