Dr. John Kingsley Krugu, an indigene of Bawku West District in the Upper East Region has committed GHC 100,000 as seed capital into a scholarship Fund set up in the district to offer financial support for brilliant but needy students.

Dr. Krugu further hinted that the scholarship fund will support the first batch of students in 2023.

According to him, additional funds will be raised to augment the initial Ghc100,000.

“The fund has been created and I have committed GHC 100,000 to it. We are in fundraising mode. Some of us by the grace of God have a broad network nationally and internationally. The target is to raise GHC 1,000,000 by December and hopefully, we can launch it and the first batch of students can benefit in 2023.”

According to Dr. Krugu, the Scholarship fund through broad and elaborate consultations by a well-constituted committee will be referred to as the Butt-Tis Buuri Scholarship Fund. The name “Butt-Tis Buuri” in Kusal means, “Plant for the family for tomorrow.”

“So, we put together a committee and they’ve done brilliant work. They did some consultations, and put ideas together. We consulted all traditional leaders. We have consulted the assembly members and the consultative process gave us the name of the fund which is, Butis Buuri Educational Fund. And Butt-Tis Buuri in the Kusal language means Plant for the family for tomorrow.”

Dr. John Kingsley Krugu stated that Butt-Tis Buuri  Scholarship Fund will support needy students without any political or religious bias.
