In the Builsa South District of the Upper East Region, the more than 650 candidates taking the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination would each receive a hot meal every day for five days.

The initiative, which has been in place since 2018, sekse to reduce the cost for parents and students.

“On my part as a District Chief Executive, I have made arrangements for all candidates to receive one hot free lunch for the entire five days that they will be writing the exams. Hard work pays, and as a result, I urged the students to study hard and avoid any form of examination malpractice.”

The District Chief Executive, Daniel Kwame Gariba made this known after visiting various centres in the area.

He however admonished the candidates to take a keen interest in excelling in their exams.

“Free SHS is still in place and stirring at every one of them. It has been made possible by our hard working president, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo. All they need is to successfully go through the exams and proceed to the next level that will enable them to realise their dreams. Pass with flying colours to benefit from the equitable and freely attainable free SHS programme. There is no financial impediment to pursuing secondary education in Ghana, so your parents’ socioeconomic circumstances are irrelevant to anyone pursuing an SHS education.”

The District Director of Education of the area, Mr. Thomas Kanlisi used the opportunity to encourage the candidates to put in their best and desist from any form of exam malpractice.
