The Binduri Constituency Communication Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jambeidu Mbawin Sadat has mentioned that Ghana President Akufo-Addo cannot continue blaming covid-19 and the Russia—Ukraine war for the current economic hardship in the country.

In his opinion, Covid-19 was a blessing to Ghana rather than a curse. He says Ghana is not the only country that is being hit by the covid-19 pandemic.

President Akufo-Addo’s government has largely blamed the current economic crisis in the country on the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war.

Speaking on the Day Break Upper East Show, Mr Sadat alleged that the government shared monies that were meant to fight the Covid-19 pandemic to members of the New Patriotic Party like groundnuts.

“The President comes here to blame Covid and blame Ukraine and even blame John Mahama in addition; this is unfair. We are not the only country that has been affected by this Covid-19”.

“But I would rather even see Covid as a blessing to Ghanaians in the sense that we saw prior to the 2020 elections when some party officials and even some executives were sharing Covid money like groundnuts”.

He said the government made a lot of money from donors to fight the Covid-19 pandemic but could not account to Ghanaians how the money was spent.
