Kassena-Nankana Municipal Best Farmer asks for gov’t support in procuring agric technology

The 2022 Kassena-Nankana Municipal best Farmer, Robert Akiyalem has called for improvement of farming activities in the area through adoption of  technological skills to improve farming in the area. He’s called for the government’s support in the procurement of same.

Speaking to the media at Nayagnia in the Kassena-Nankana Municipality Mr. Akiyalem said the issues affecting farming in the area include low rainfall, high cost of farm inputs, and the low use of technology. For farmers to succeed, there is a need for the government to help address the challenges.

According to the 2022 best Kassena-Nankana Municipal Farmer, it is important for the government to initiate processes and empower agriculture extension officers with technology so that the extension officers can do same for farmers.  Mr. Akiyalem alluded to the fact that technology drives all aspects of society. 

“Apart from the high cost of farm inputs and issues of rainfall pattern, the government should support the Agric workers to give us new varieties and diverse ways of farming than what we kept on doing every year. So that, every year, if they can come around, and show us how to change our way of farming by using technology this will help improve our farming outcome.”

“If they start to teach us all the ways of farming it will improve and move our farming activities forward. Now we all know that we can’t do anything without technology which is now taking over the world.”

The Kassena-Nankana Municipal best Farmer Robert Akiyalem from Nyangue took home a tricycle popularly known as Motor King, a pair of Wellington boots, a knapsack sprayer, a cutlass and two bags of fertiliser, cutlasses among others items for him to support his farming activities.
