A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region and Parliamentary candidate hopeful for the NPP in the Navrongo central constituency, Alhaji Abdallah Otito Achuliwor, has dismissed a statement made against him by Kelly Alagewe Babere, the NDC Navrongo Central Constituency Communication Officer, on A1 Radio’s news bulletin, News Link.

In response to Alhaji Otito Achuliwor’s comments about the performance of the Navrongo central constituency member of parliament, Sampson Tangombu Chiragia, the Navrongo central constituency NDC communication officer, Kelly Alagewe, was interviewed on A1. Mr. Kelly Alagewe questioned Alhaji Otito Achuliwor’s credibility in the NPP.

Among the allegations levelled against Alhaji Otito Achuliwor was that he resigned from the New Patriotic party (NPP) and contested as an independent parliamentary candidate in the Navrongo central constituency and lost.

But in a swift response to the allegations, Alhaji Otito Achuliwor in a statement signed and copied to this website dismissed the allegations and challenged Kelly Alagewe and the NDC in the Navrongo to show proof of his resignation from NPP.  According to Alhaji Otito Achuliwor, he went independent as a matter of principle. It however didn’t affect his membership of the party.

Alhaji Otito Achuliwor in his statement noted that, his contributions and credibility to the growth and success of the new patriotic party from branch to constituency up regional and national level is incredible.

Alhaji Otito stated that, due to his hard work and continuous contributions to the party, His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo entrusted him with an appointment as Executive Director of the Ghana Libyan Arab Holding Company Limited (GLAHCO).

Below is the full write up by Alhaji Abdallah Otito Achuliwor in response to Kelly Alagewe Babere.

  1. I have never resigned from the NPP and as a commentator for the second largest party in the country and the constituency he ought to talk to facts! There is no single document anywhere from Navrongo through Bolga to Accra with my name and signature that I ever resigned from NPP
  2. Yes I contested 2004 as an independent candidate! That doesn’t make me a criminal, does it? I did it based on a principle but I never left my party.
  3. Our party’s constitution allows anyone with a valid party card with two years of good standing to contest any election provided he or she is of sound mind. I couldn’t have been disqualified cos I have always been a member in good standing
  4. How can someone who led the campaign of his PC to win two elections after losing to that candidate be having credibility issues ? Apart from that I was the party’s election coordinator for the region in 2016 and 2020. I was also a member of the Regional Campaign team in the 2016 elections. I have also been a member of the  regional council of patrons since 2015 to date!

His Excellency the President of Ghana has entrusted me with an appointment to serve under his government and I’m still serving with integrity and credibility. He still thinks I’m not a credible member of my party? Sorry for him if he still does. He must have a warped mind if he still does after hearing my credentials in the party.

Kelly will remain stunned in his ignorance about me after the declaration of the election results in Dec 2024.
