A senior nutritionist at Catholic Health Services, Paul Agumbire Akapanga, is concerned that most people are more focused on their phones than on their bodies. This, he claims, is influencing our eating habits, causing us to adapt to new eating habits that are harmful to our health.

“Our pattern of eating has changed drastically, and I think it has to do with the mass media, the movies and programmes we watch on TV and smart phones.”

He observed that many people nowadays spend more time on their smartphones than they do taking care of their bodies. He claims that his new habit has made food an afterthought.

“Now that almost everybody has a smartphone, we spend more time on our smartphones than we do on our bodies. Food comes as an option; an afterthought.”

In light of this, Akapanga urged people to prioritise their health by adopting healthier eating habits and avoiding the negative influence of mass media. The senior nutritionist made these comments during a radio interview on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East.
