The Queen Mother of Kardema in the Builsa North Municipal, Upper East Region, Pognab Atamara Lydia Adangabey, has donated 126 Mathematical Sets to candidates preparing for the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). The initiative took place during a one-day educational forum she organised for candidates from four schools within her traditional area. It was attended by other Queen Mothers from the Traditional Area and officers from the Municipal Education Office of the Ghana Education Service.
During the engagement, Pognab Atamara urged the candidates to uphold integrity and avoid exam malpractice, emphasising that each of them has the potential to excel. In addition to the mathematical sets, she promised financial assistance to the highest-performing candidates from the four schools in her locality, namely Chansa JHS, Kardema JHS, Zaring JHS, and Zamsa JHS.
Municipal Examination Officer, Joseph Abinbana, enlightened the candidates on effective answering techniques and what is expected of them during the examination period.
Pauline Atenglie Azenab, the Pognab of Wiaga Traditional Council, provided guidance on school and program selection for Senior High School, emphasising the importance of choosing based on individual academic strengths and interests.
Madam Hajia Christy Anadem, a retired Educationist, inspired the candidates with advice on self-belief, the right attitude for life, the importance of positive friendships, and the power of prayer for success.
As an educationist herself, the Queen Mother, Pognab Atamara expressed her belief that the forum and support provided will significantly contribute to improving the candidates’ overall performance in the upcoming BECE. This noble initiative highlights the Queen Mother’s commitment to promoting education and empowering the youth in her community.
