The Deputy Upper East Regional Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Andrew Atariwini, has expressed his displeasure regarding the current discord among party members, particularly as the flagbearership race intensifies.

Mr. Atariwini, speaking with A1 Radio’s Mark Smith, explained that the founding members of the party sacrificed everything they had to establish a party that was meant to be inclusive and surpass all other political associations in the country. He lamented that the dreams and aspirations of the founding members might be rapidly fading due to the internal strife within the party.

“I have simple advice for our party big men. Look, I am not a founding member of the party, but I am a beneficiary of the vision of the founding members of the party. The dreamt, came together, spent resources to build the party to wherever it is. If enjoying power is not anything to let anything to understand that we can sow in tears and reap in joy and so let us not allow the negatives to outshine the positives and they want to dissipate, destroy and break the party, then you would want to ask whether it was actually wise to sacrifice, to invest [in the party].”

“Our forebears who are not with us, would they be happy and proud in their graves? I believe that they would not be. That is why I believe we must strive as much as possible to desist from this internal upheaval,” he said.

Once there is unity within the NPP, Mr. Atariwini explained that this would force the NDC to continue to lose revelance and remain in opposition.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Upper East Regional Communications Director was full of praise for the National Chairman of the party, Stephen Ntim and its General Secretary, Justin Kodua.

“The disposition of the General Secretary and the current leadership of the party shows that they are tyring as much as possible to be the cooling voices,” he said.
