The producer of A1 Radio’s major news bulletin, ‘News Link,’ David Azure, has been awarded Best Health Reporter of the Year 2022 by the Upper East Regional branch of the Ghana Journalist Association at the recently concluded GJA Awards.
This young journalist clinched the award in recognition of his outstanding reporting on health issues in the Upper East Region and beyond. Mr. Azure received a certificate, a plaque, and undisclosed cash as part of the award. In a statement after receiving the honor, he called on all stakeholders to support journalists in the region and beyond by providing them with the necessary information to enable them to perform their duties effectively for the betterment of Ghana.
Mr. Azure, who also hosts A1 Radio’s agricultural programme, ‘Agric Forum,’ emphasized that individuals and organizations have a responsibility to appreciate the work journalists do. He stated that countries can only achieve the required development if journalists are allowed and supported in carrying out their work without hindrance.
“I want to emphasize that journalists do not work in a vacuum; rather, we rely on the available information on the ground. This enables us to advocate for the necessary development and changes needed in our communities, region, and the country as a whole,” Mr. Azure said. “Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to urge all heads of organizations, departments, and stakeholders to willingly provide journalists with the necessary information. This support will empower us to fulfill our duties as expected, ultimately contributing to the betterment of our nation. I firmly believe that without journalism, no nation can achieve the necessary development. Let’s show our appreciation and collectively support journalists to carry out their mandate effectively.”
Mr. Azure also extended his appreciation to the management and staff of A1 Radio for their support and the opportunities provided. He expressed gratitude to every individual, family, and friend for their love and support.
