Yaw Adomako Baafi, the head of the Advanced Communication Team for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (DMB), has proclaimed that a vote for Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming presidential elections represents a vote that unifies every region and religious body and brings the New Patriotic Party (NPP) closer together.

According to Mr. Baafi, Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy not only promises a bright future for the NPP but also holds the potential to end the long-standing perception propagated by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the NPP is primarily an Akan party.

Speaking on A1 Radio ahead of the Vice President’s visit to the region, Yaw Baafi emphasised that Dr. Bawumia’s vision for Ghana extends beyond regional and ethnic boundaries, with a focus on inclusive development.

He stated, “Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy represents a vision where every Ghanaian, regardless of their region or religious affiliation, can see their aspirations reflected and supported in our party’s policies.”

The assertion that the NPP is an Akan party has been a subject of controversy in Ghanaian politics, especially among supporters of the opposition parties. They often accused the party of not being inclusive enough, focusing primarily on Akan interests, but Mr. Yaw believes otherwise.

According to him, Dr. Bawumia’s potential presidential slot will dispel such notions and demonstrate the NPP’s commitment to representing all Ghanaians.

With such beliefs, Mr. Yaw echoed the need for delegates and party supporters to vote for Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy as a symbol of unity and inclusivity.
