The Talensi Constituency Organizer for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Maxwell Chilembalem, stated that the biggest task for the party in the constituency after the flagbearer election is to win the parliamentary seat in 2024.

After the presidential results, which saw Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerge as the winner both in the Talensi constituency and the country as a whole, Mr. Chilembalem called on the three aspiring parliamentary candidates in the constituency to remain united before, during, and after their primaries, regardless of who wins to represent the party in the constituency.

According to Mr. Chilembalem, all the constituency executives are ready to support any of the three candidates who win the primaries. The candidates include the District Chief Executive, Thomas Duanab Wuni Pearson, Robert Alibo, and the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for the Northern Development Authority, Williams Zoogah.

Speaking exclusively to A1 Radio’s David Azure at the election grounds in Tongo, the Constituency Organizer said, “What is paramount to us in Talensi is that we want to win the seat. When you came, you saw all three aspirants moving together; that means we are one. We are telling these three aspirants that if any of them wins, they must come together so that all of us will unite and ensure that we take the seat from the NDC. All three are significant figures in the NPP: Mr. Williams, Honourable Alibo, and Honourable Thomas Duanab. Whichever one of them wins, we will make sure to come together and help him take the seat from the NDC.”

At the end of the NPP presidential primaries in the Talensi constituency, Kennedy Agyapong had 29 votes, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia had 462, Dr. Afriyie Akoto had 8, while Francis Addai Nimoh managed to get 2 votes out of the total votes cast.

Maxwell Chilembalem expressed happiness over the Vice President’s win and added that all 17 NPP executives in the Talensi constituency have been warned not to take sides by supporting any of the three candidates. According to Chilembalem, this will help them unite and work together for victory in December 2024.
