The women’s wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East Region put 47 women into various committees on Sunday, December 10, 2023, in a bid to bolster the wing’s efforts ahead of the upcoming 2024 elections.

The committees, comprising women with diverse skills and expertise, are expected to play crucial roles in various aspects of the party’s campaign strategy, policy formulation, and grassroots mobilization.

Madam Fawzia Yakubu, the Upper East Regional Women Organizer for the NDC, expressed the importance of a collective effort in steering the party back to power.

She stressed that the inauguration of these 47 women to key committees signifies a forward-looking strategy, acknowledging the importance of inclusivity and harnessing the untapped potential within the Women’s Wing.

“The idea behind inaugurating these 47 women to various committees is to bring everyone’s hands on deck. We believe that a united front will strengthen our resolve to rescue power for the NDC in the 2024 elections,” Madam Fawzia Yakubu stated during the event.

Madam Yakubu emphasized the Women’s Wing’s commitment to supporting the 24-hour economy proposal put forth by former President John Mahama.

The proposal, she said, will drive economic growth and development by ensuring round-the-clock productivity.

However, she indicated that the event not only served as a platform for the formal inauguration but also fostered a sense of solidarity and enthusiasm among the women under a common goal: securing victory for the NDC in the upcoming elections.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by dignitaries from both national and regional levels.
