A two-bedroom apartment in the Bolga-Soe community in the Bolgatanga Municipality was devastated by fire by today, Friday, January 5, 2023. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

Despite the prompt response from the Ghana National Fire Service, the blaze proved difficult to control, leading to the loss of all that was contained within the apartment.

The community is now left grappling with the aftermath of the incident as investigators work tirelessly to determine the root cause of the fire.

A sister to the landlady, Rebecca Yamtot, who narrowly escaped the blaze, shared her harrowing experience with A1 News.

According to her, she was peacefully asleep when she suddenly detected smoke emanating from her room. Swiftly springing into action, Rebecca realized with horror that her room was engulfed in flames. Despite her efforts, the fire spread rapidly, leaving her with no choice but to call for help.

In a trembling voice, Rebecca recounted the terrifying moments. “I was sleeping, and then I sensed some smoke from the room. I rushed out, only to find my room in flames. I have no idea what caused the fire,” she said, her distress palpable.

However, Rebecca’s quick thinking enabled her to alert the Ghana National Fire Service promptly, preventing further escalation of the disaster.

The Bolgatanga Municipality Fire Service responded swiftly to the distress call, deploying firefighting personnel and equipment to battle the raging flames.

Despite their efforts, the intensity of the fire proved overwhelming, resulting in the total destruction of the two-bedroom apartment.

Rebecca and her sister are, therefore, calling for support and temporary shelter.
