Chef Faila ends cook-a-thon at 227:00:02 hrs in Tamale amidst thunderous applause

Abdul-Razak Failatu, now popularly referred to as Executive Chef Faila, has concluded her attempt at breaking the record for the longest cooking marathon. She ended her marathon at 227:00:02 hrs.

There was thunderous applause from individuals who had gathered at the Modern City Hotel to support her. It is expected that the team supporting Chef Faila will submit details of the attempt to the Guinness World Records for verification.

Chef Failatu Abdul-Razak has attempted to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon. During the course of her attempt, she was cheered on and widely celebrated across the country, receiving massive donations and well-wishes from Ghanaians, including a donation of Ghc30,000 from the Vice-president, Mahamudu Bawumia.

Chef Faila prepared traditional Ghanaian meals, blending them favorably with some continental dishes. Before the commencement of her attempt, she stated in a media engagement that the task was a national assignment on behalf of Ghana and its citizens, stressing that, “If I fail, believe me, I have put our president, Ghanaians, people who have supported (and) groomed me, my family, and friends to shame.”

Abdul-Razak’s attempt to break the world record for a cookathon of 119 hours and 57 minutes held by the Irish chef Alan Fisher is widely celebrated in Ghana.
