Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central, Sampson Tangombu Chiragiaa, is worried that the government of Ghana is hiding the true state of the economy from Ghanaians. Mr. Tangombu argues that this is being done for political expediency.
Speaking to Mark Smith on the Day Break Upper East Show, Mr. Tangombu argued that the true state of Ghana’s economy would only be known if the NDC takes over the reins of the country.
“What they [the current government] are presenting, I am not sure that that is the true state of Ghana’s economy. When we come, through the transition period, we would review, and you would see that things are even worse than that.”
“Look at the number of contracts they are giving. Where are they going to get the money to complete that? You have heard that they have awarded the Tema Motorway, they are doing a dual carriage from Kumasi to Accra. They haven’t done that in 7 years. They are now doing them. Where is the money? We will come in and see that everything is empty,” he said.

Mr. Tangombu Chiragiaa added that the current NPP MP is one that cannot be trusted to do the right thing to get this country out of the current situation. His comments were tied to earlier remarks by former President John Dramani Mahama that if he wins the next election, he would need some grace period.
“You know these people. Even if it is about siphoning the money, they would do it. They would not hand the country over, even in the way that it is today.”
“As Ghanaians, we must know that what John Mahama said is the truth,” he said.
