Deeper Life-AiD, a non-governmental organization (NGO) under the Deeper Life Bible Church of Ghana in the Upper East Region, has rendered support to ten needy but brilliant pupils in the Upper East region.

The initiative brought these elementary pupils from schools across the region together to enhance the quality of their education. The materials the students received include exercise books, notebooks, textbooks, pens, pencils, school bags, and mathematical sets.

Speaking to the media after the donation of the learning materials to the students, the Programs Officer for Deeper Life-AiD, Sarah Dery, indicated that the initiative dubbed the ‘Child Education Support Program’ seeks to help enhance the quality of education among the pupils. According to her, DLA is targeting only needy students in various public schools with the focus of aiding the government in promoting quality education.

“What Deeper Life-AiD actually seeks to do is to enhance educational quality, complement the efforts of the government and other likeminded NGOs so that together the quality of education would be improved. Normally, our target is children in government schools because we see that when it comes to quality or good performance, they face challenges and their parents don’t have the resources. They are the people we select based on certain criteria and provide them with educational materials,” she said.

Mrs. Dery further stated that students DLA supported over the years, according to their checks, are excelling at their various Senior High Schools, which is making the organization proud.

On his part, the Guidance and Counselling Coordinator at the Bolgatanga Municipal Education Directorate, Moses Adugmolko, on behalf of the directorate, appreciated the organization for the support given to the needy students. Mr. Adugmolko noted that the government cannot offer all educational needs; hence, there is a need for private organizations to show interest, including offering support to needy teachers as well.

The beneficiaries, together with their parents, thanked DLA for the gesture and pledged to put the materials to good use.
