On Saturday, March 9, 2024, the Akadiire family in the Bembisi Community in the Kassena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region donated six hospital beds to the Kassena-Nankana East health center.
The initiative, according to the family, was to address the pressing issue where patients had previously been forced to receive treatment while sitting on the floor.
Speaking to the media during a homecoming celebration held in the Bembisi community, Naba Nyaaba Akadiiri highlighted the suboptimal conditions that patients faced, including having to sit on the floor during treatment, which he deemed improper from a health perspective.
The Akadiire family expressed their commitment to the welfare of the community, stating that plans were underway to further improve the health facility for better healthcare delivery.
Naba Akadiiri further revealed another significant undertaking by the family, stating that they had commissioned a contractor to connect 150 households to the national grid.
This initiative, he emphasized, was of great importance to the family, as despite the community’s advancement, a substantial number of households still lacked access to electricity.
This lack of connectivity, he added, hindered daily activities and had a detrimental impact on the education of the area’s children.
Upon receiving the hospital beds, Simon Ayidiya, the in-charge of the health facility, expressed gratitude, acknowledging the timeliness of the donation.
