The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is confident that it will win a total of seven seats in the Upper East Region.
This is according to the Upper East Regional Communication Director for the NPP, Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga. He made these comments when he spoke on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show today, March 13, 2024.
The NDC currently holds 14 out of the 15 available seats in the region. The Binduri seat is held by the NPP’s Abdulai Abanga.
Mr. Ayinbisa, who remained tight-lipped about the specific seats in question, only discussed the blocs within the region and the number of seats the NPP is working to win.
He said that the NPP is working to snatch two seats within the central zone of the region. The available seats in the central zone are Bolgatanga Central, Bolgatanga East, Bongo, Nabdam, and Talensi.
In the eastern bloc, Mr. Ayinbisa mentioned that the NPP is hoping to win two more seats in addition to the Binduri seat.
“We will win two more seats in addition to the Binduri seat. We have the Binduri seat in our hands, and there is no doubt about that. There are several seats that are vacant, as it were. We are putting our efforts and resources in all constituencies, but we are sure that we would get two more.”
When asked what made him confident, Mr. Ayinbisa said, “We are looking at the resourcefulness of the candidates, their acceptability, and the candidates’ ability to bring people together.”
In the western bloc, the party hopes to win two seats. The western bloc is made up of Chiana-Paga, Navrongo Central, Builsa South, and Builsa North Constituencies.
