The School of Mathematics at the CK Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences marked the International Day of Mathematics on Thursday, March 14th, to enlighten students on the significance of mathematics in their daily lives.
Speaking during the event, Professor Kwara Nantomah emphasized the indispensable role of mathematics in various aspects of life.
He encouraged the students to integrate mathematics into their routine activities, highlighting its fundamental nature in problem-solving and decision-making processes.
Professor Nantomah underscored that mathematics is not only a subject but a tool that enhances critical thinking and analytical skills essential for success in diverse fields.
He added that mathematics, often perceived as daunting, can be approached with enthusiasm and ease. He then urged the students to embrace the subject, assuring them that with dedication and perseverance, they could excel in it.
The event was held at the university’s auditorium, with nine Senior High School students and one Teacher Training College student participating.
Some of the students also took the stage to share their perspectives on the significance of mathematics, highlighting its potential to shape their future careers and improve their problem-solving abilities.
They emphasized the practical applications of mathematics in various professions, inspiring others to embrace it as a valuable asset for personal and professional growth.
The International Day of Mathematics, or Pi Day 2024, was celebrated with the theme, “Playing with Math.”
