James Kumbeni, a resident of Bolgatanga, the Upper East Regional capital, is set to cycle from Bolgatanga to Accra, the national capital, in the coming days.
Mr. Kumbeni would cover a total of 815 kilometers in four days. According to Mr. Kumbeni, the decision to cycle to Accra is to achieve a number of goals.
“Carbon emissions from vehicles destroy the quality of the air we breathe. This leads to global warming and climate change. For this reason, Keekee Cycling Konnect would be embarking on an 815km ride from Bolga to Accra to promote cycling as a means or alternative means of transport in Ghana and the world. This way, we can save our planet from global warming and climate change,” Mr. Kumbeni, who doubles as the Chief Peddlar for KeeKee Cycling Konnect, wrote on his Facebook page.
Additionally, Mr. Kumbeni would use the trip as a means of supporting a fellow native of the Upper East Region, Joel Atinga Nsobila, who is attempting the longest barbecue marathon in Accra.
It would be recalled that James rode 170 kilometers from Bolgatanga, the Upper East Regional capital, to the Northern Regional capital, Tamale, to support the longest cooking marathon attempt by Chef Failatu Abdul-Razak.
James Kumbeni is from Baare but lives and works in Bolga. He teaches at Desert Pastures International School in Bolga and is inspired by the fun in cycling.
