Rex Asanga, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bolgatanga, has expressed gratitude to the residents of the municipality for their unwavering support throughout his time in office. He acknowledged the challenges faced during his tenure, particularly the decisions that led to the demolition of certain structures.
While recognizing that some residents may have been adversely affected by these actions, he emphasized that they were undertaken with the broader community’s best interests in mind, rather than with any malicious intent.
“There are some people we have hurt in the process—demolishing structures and all that—but it was not done with evil intent. It was done because we had to do it for the general good of the populace,” he explained.
The MCE also admitted that there were tasks and projects he could not complete during his term. He expressed hope that the next MCE would have opportunities to address these unfinished matters and continue the development agenda. “There are some things we have not been able to do, and I am praying that doors will open for whoever becomes the next MCE,” he said during an interview on A1 Radio.
