The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bawku West, James Ayamwego, has emphasised that funds received under the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) are being utilized to drive development across the district.

In an interview on A1 Radio, Mr. Ayamwego disclosed that Bawku West is expected to receive a total allocation of about GH¢19 million as its DACF for the 2025 fiscal year. He explained that the most recent disbursement to the district amounted to roughly GH¢6 million, covering the first and second quarters of the year. While he said he did not yet have full details on the third and fourth quarter releases, he indicated that information available to him suggests additional payments have been made, putting the district closer to receiving its full allocation.

According to the DCE, the funds received so far are already being used to implement key infrastructure projects in the education, health and local governance sectors. He said the district has commenced work on about 12 projects, all of which are currently at different stages of completion.

Mr. Ayamwego also noted that part of the DACF is being used to improve administrative infrastructure in the district. The Bawku West District Assembly Hall is currently undergoing renovation, alongside ongoing renovation works at the district’s agricultural office to enhance service delivery to farmers.
