Endswell Pharmacy Limited in the Upper East Region has officially relocated its Atulbabisi branch to a newly constructed facility directly opposite the older rented building. The relocation, according to management, is driven by the need to operate from a permanent, purpose-built structure that can better support the company’s growing services.

The new facility will operate a 24-hour pharmacy, allowing residents to access medicines at any time of the day or night.

Speaking to A1 Radio, Dr. Benjamin Asunka, a staff member of Endswell Pharmacy Limited, explained that the company has operated since 2006 and had previously been working from a rented facility.

“With our own building now ready, we can offer more services under one roof and operate efficiently. You will realise that the pharmacy attracts a lot of people because the cost of our medicine is relatively low. So, a lot of people come to us. But most of the time when they come, they realize that the place is closed in the evening or at night. So, now we want to open it up for 24-hour service, so that any time you need medicine, you can come to buy,” he said.

Beyond pricing, he stressed that Endswell Pharmacy prioritizes patient safety over profit. According to him, the pharmacy strictly refuses to sell prescription-only medicines without a valid doctor’s prescription.

“Whether a person has money or not, if the medicine requires a prescription and you don’t have one, we will not sell it. This is because we are here to protect lives, not to make profit at all costs. Sometime ago, a guy came into the pharmacy, sweating, saying he wanted medicine that a lady could take to get rid of a pregnancy. And we said, we don’t have that medicine. We have encountered that a lot,” he stated.

As part of activities marking the relocation, Endswell Pharmacy has organized a two-day free medical screening exercise for the general public. The screening covers conditions such as high blood pressure, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and blood sugar levels.

Dr. Asunka explained that the initiative is part of the pharmacy’s corporate social responsibility, aimed at helping residents detect hidden or silent conditions early.
