Minister-designate for Transport, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah  has said he intends dealing drastically with the menace of ‘Goro Boys‘ at the offices of the Driver Vehicle and licensing Authority by automating the activities of the Authority.

According to him, the presence of these individuals at the offices is
due to the fact that the DVLA has not embraced technology and are still dependent on human intervention.

He indicated that upon his approval, he will work at doing away with the human interface by getting the authority to embrace technology to ease access to licenses.

So far as there is a human interface, it will create an opportunity for these Goro boys so one thing I will seek to do if approved, is to advise them to go for full automation that is they should embrace technology.”

He added that if approved, he will undertake public education to sensitise the public on the need to deal with officials rather than middlemen.

Although the DVLA has plans for decentralising its activities, the Minister-designate mentioned that he will fast-track the process in order to ease the pressure people go through for license and also fight the menace of ‘Goro Boys’.
