Spokesperson for the people of Sumbrungu, Mr. Elias Ayinbila Apasiya has expressed shock at the posture of the people of Sherigu with regards to issues in connection to the siting of the Upper east regional airport.
The Aviation Minister, during her visit to the Upper East region failed to visit Anateem under Sumbrungu where a site has already been prepared for the airport in the Upper East region but rather visited Sherigu.
The snub raised concerns among the people of Sumbrungu who though the Minister had not been fair to them because they are the only community in the region that has an aviation project.
The people of Sherigu after a press conference was organized by the people of Sumbrungu organized a counter press conference to state reasons why they also deserve an airport in their community.
But speaking in an interview with A1 Radio’s Christopher Asima, the spokesperson for the people of Sumbrungu, Mr. Elias Ayinbila Apasiya said the people of Sumbrungu are surprised by the posture of the people of Sherigu.
He described their posture as unfortunate indicating that they expected the people of Sherigu to support them as their brothers in order to help bring development to the Upper East region.
He cautioned the people of Sherigu not to fall for some people who are bent on sowing a seed of discord between them adding that they are brothers and need to work together for the good of the region.
