Security Services in the Upper East Region are calling on the general public to remain calm and exercise restraint ahead of the Supreme Court verdict on the 2012 election petition.
The security personnel drown from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana National Fire Service, the Immigration Service, the Prisons Service and the Internal Revenue Service embarked on a peace walk through the principal streets of Bolgatanga to educate the public on the need to live peacefully pending the Supreme Court ruling.
Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, ASP Thomas Agbenyo in an interview with A1 News said the police is on top of security situation in the region and will defend the nation in every way possible.
He assured the public of his outfits preparedness in dealing with the aftermath of the supreme court ruling. Deputy Upper East Regional Minister, Daniel Syme further assured the security personnel of government’s renewed commitment to support the police and other security agencies in the performance of their mandate in ensuring peace and stability in the region and the country as a whole.
Meanwhile a similar peace walks took place in the Kasena Nankana Municipality where security personnel also embarked on a peace walk in Navrongo and Paga. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abdul Latif Nbonwura is the Nasena Nankana Municipal Police Commander.
