Torrential rains in the Builsa North District of the Upper East Region have left 4,282 hectares of farm fields submerged by flood water. Affected crops include maize, millet, sorghum and groundnuts.
Deputy coordinator in charge of operations at the National Disaster Management Organisation in the region, Paul Wooma, who disclosed this to A1 NEWS, also said some 114 victims of flood at Kologo in the Navrongo Municipality have received relief items after their houses collapsed.
Meanwhile, unidentified hectares of farm lands have also been submerged at Dalaka, the confluence of the Bagre Dam in the Bawku West. Again, large hectares of crops at Pwalugu in the Talensi district have also been submerged.
Farmers and residents living in the affected areas where houses have collapsed are now putting up with relatives and others in schools.
The situation is likely to get worsened in the coming days as heavy rains continue to pour.
