Communication Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Navrongo Central Constituency, Salifu Saibu D. Slanwiah, has responded to a group of petitioners calling for the resignation from office of the Navrongo Central Constituency Executives of NPP; saying most members of the group are not NPP supporters.

It could be recalled that a group calling itself ‘Kofi Adda Grassroots for Peace and Development’ (KAG-PED)  demanded the immediate resignation from office of all executives of NPP in the Navrongo Central Constituency following what it described as the party’s worse performance in the just ended December elections.

But in response, Mr. Slanwiah referred to the petitioners as a group of people who do not mean well for the party.

“I listened to the press conference held by the ‘Kofi Adda Grassroots for Peace and Development’. Many of the people I saw during the press conference are not even party members in the first place. They are just a collection of people who came into the party trying to foment trouble and to make sure the party is thrown into disarray. That is exactly what they are seeking to do.”

“The position of the party is that we have a country to govern; and we are not in any way ready to engage in needless and tangential issues that will not bring butter and bread to the table.” He said in an interview on A1 Radio.

Touching on the group’s demand for the constituency executives to resign en bloc on the basis of the party’s failure to win at their respective polling stations, Mr. Slanwiah said “that is not the way to go.”

According to him, some individuals among the petitioners may be forced to also resign from their various jobs and positions; because “they are party appointees holding bigger positions and they take salaries in that regard. And so if we go to the polling stations of such people and find out NPP did not perform; per their own conclusion, it means that those people too did not perform and should therefore resign. I think that is not the way to go.”

The Communication Officer wondered why the energy that members of KAG-PED are putting out today to fight their course was not committed to the party’s efforts in obtaining more votes at the constituency during the just ended elections.
