Wear nose mask to protect yourself; more prayers wouldn’t prevent COVID-19

The Founder and General Overseer of the Pearls of Prayer Ministry, Prophet Ken Afflu has called on his fellow Christian leaders to join the campaign against the spread of COVID-19 and be aggressive in educating their members to abide by all prevention protocols.

He wants Christians and all other Ghanaians to be mindful of the presence of COVID-19 and the fact that the disease has no known cure, hence the need for people to take every prevention protocol seriously and not resort to more prayers.

According to him, prayer has its role in the physical and spiritual development of every human being, especially believers, but then protecting one’s self from COVID-19, is not about prayers.

“If you don’t take the COVID-19 prevention seriously, and you contract the virus, it will kill you if you are not strong. If you are always praying and not eating well, not exercising, and resting well, you cannot boost your immune system, no matter how hard you pray. The same way, if we don’t wear our mask, if we don’t ensure social distance, wash our hands regularly and we enter overcrowded places without mask, we can contract the virus.”

Prophet Ken Afflu popularly known as, “The Oracle of Fire”, made the call in an interview with A1radioonline.com in Bolgatanga ahead of a mega praise programme, dubbed, ‘Atmosphere of Praise and Prophetic Visitation’. Performing musicians at the event will include Minister Fred Oware Junior and other praise leaders from the Ashanti Region.

According to him, praise and appreciation of God’s protection and mercies are very necessary for the life of every Christian, and this programme affords participants the opportunity to praise God and also pray to commit the rest of the year 2021 into the hands of God.

Meanwhile, in another interview over COVID-19, the Upper East Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Emmanuel Dzotsi has also called on the media in the region and Ghana, in general, to focus on educating and reminding the public on the COVID-19 prevention protocols.

The number of COVID-19 positive cases in Ghana have started increasing again, but the Health Director believes that reporting the figures alone will not present the spread, rather continuous reminders by the media, and every leader with followers will help in the prevention campaign.

“We need to keep reminding ourselves that the disease is still around and can still kill. We are all aware of Covid-19, we know the mode of transmission, we are aware of the areas where Covid-19 can be spread and contracted. The problem is that, despite all this knowledge on Covid-19, people still gather and go around without mask. We need to remind ourselves over and over so that we all can be safe and this is where the media comes in.”
