Two persons in the Upper East Region have been sentenced to 40 years in prison for robbery by the Bolgatanga and Bawku Circuit Courts respectively.
A press release issued by the Ghana Police Service on Monday, June 7, 2021 and sighted by A1Radioonline.com indicated that the convicted persons, Awinaba Ayembile Joel aged 30 was sentenced to 25 years in prison with hard labour for conspiracy and robbery contrary to section 23 (1) and 149 of the criminal and other offence act by the Bawku Circuit Court on June 4, 2021.
While the second person, Mathias Asagba aged 20, was also sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labour for robbery by the Bolgatanga Circuit Court on 26th May, 2021.
The statement signed by, ASP David Fianko- Okyere further indicated that, three suspects namely Salifu Gola and his accomplice Amadou Sambo, Adam Yaro, who were arrange before court for robbery have been reminded into police custody to reappear on 26th May, 2021.
According to the statement, the Navrongo Police Command has arrested one Ayandoor Azupere age 28, on 2nd June, 2021 for possessing a locally manufactured pistol and two live cartridges without authority.
He has since been arranged before the Bolgatanga Circuit Court and to re-appear on 8th June, 2021.
The statement further assured residents of a robust security posture to ensure provision of maximum security to protect lives and properties.
