Founder of the All People’s Congress (APC) Dr. Hassan Ayariga has asked Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumi to rather digitize the Ghana-Cedi to be comparable to the United States Dollar for local businesses to thrive.
According to him, the major problem facing the country’s economy is the continued rise of the US dollar as against the Ghana cedis hence, he will prefer the Veep to focus on how to mitigate such economic deficiencies rather than organise a digitalization lecture.
The United States Dollar as of November 6, 2021, was trading at 1 USD to 6.03292 GHS.
In a write-up copied to A1radioonline.com, Dr. Ayariga noted that it was mind-blowing to him to hear the Vice President at the just ended public lecture saying that the Ghana Card will soon be used in 197 countries by 2022.
“Let me help him to understand the dynamics. Firstly, we have 195 countries in the world and not 197 countries. Secondly, he should mention one country in the world that its citizens can enter Ghana or any other country with their ID Card”, he said.
He stressed further that “ID cards are not travelling documents. The world accepts only Passports as travelling documents, my senior brother. You will need a passport to enter any country and definitely a passport to return and not your Ghana Card.”
The founder of APC beseeched the Veep to “…please digitalize our Cedi, my opinion” for the Ghanaian businesses to thrive.
