Traditional meal vendors, weavers, sculptors, artists and producers of organic food products have converged at the Bombs Events Centre at Bolgatanga, the Upper East Regional capital. These groups of people are part of the many business owners who signed up to exhibit their wares to the public.
The three-day exhibition fair was organised by the Youth Network for Societal Transformation (YNEST) Global with support from the Ghana Tourism Authority and Bombs Event Centre, formerly known as the Catering Rest House.
Speaking at the brief ceremony to signify the opening of the fair, the President of YNEST Global, Christopher Kevin Asima said the idea to hold a fair was born out of a desire to showcase the Upper East Region, its people, its food and traditional artefacts to the world.
He explained that for far too long, the many rich traditions of the people of the Upper East Region has gone unnoticed and that has to change.
Mr. Asima added that as young people, YNEST Global hopes to through Digital and Traditional Media, sell the Upper East Region. This he said would increase the revenues of persons who trade in traditional cuisines and artefacts.
