The Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central constituency, Sampson Tangobu has taken a swipe at the Vice President, Dr Muhamadu Bawumia, describing his ‘speak out’ as a failed attempt to address the direct concerns of the ordinary Ghanaians.

According to the legislator, the problems of Ghanaians are not about the growth of GDP as continuous announced by the Vice President, but rather the exchange rate and debt payment.

“The Vice President has failed to realise one thing; what Ghanaians actually want him to do to the economy. Our problem is not about the GDP, we want solutions. He should tell us how to stabilize the economy. Our problem is just two factors, how to stabilize the exchange rate and the repayment of debt. This is what we want the Vice President to be talking about. We borrow to pay workers, the cedi to US dollar is ballooning. that’s our problem,” he said.

The MP made the known on Daybreak Upper East show on A1 Radio regarding the Vice President’s speak out held in Accra.

In the area of fuel prices, relative to the Russian-Ukraine war as mentioned by the Vice President, the MP wondered why the Vice President failed to also compare salary structures and income levels of other countries.

“He brought prices and data from the UK and other things. What he refused to understand was that if he had compared the fuel prices in the UK and he is saying they are the same as Ghana, then he must equally compare the salary structure,” he said.
