The National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) attempt at digitalising the identification details of the members across the Upper East Region has been largely successful. This is according to the Regional Secretary of the party, Donatus Akamugri.
He explained that currently, the party is re-inputting the details of the already existing members and updating its voters’ register. This when completed, would ensure that the NDC is able to complete its internal reorganisation later this year. The reorganisation would begin with the election of Branch Executives and would end with the election of the Flagbearer who would lead the party into the 2024 election.
“We are making sure that we put every registered member’s name on a digital platform of the party. Our old ID cards have expired. So we are replacing the old ones with new ones; that is the process we are going through for now. This is slated, on our timetable, to the end of the 20th of May and then we move on to the registration process now.”
“Those who are members, those who admire NDC, those who have had issues with the NPP, this is the time that they have to find themselves join the NDC,” he said.
Mr Akamugri made this known when he spoke on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show.
The Regional Secretary said the party is prepared to begin the internal reorganisation process in the Upper East Region.
“You know, Upper East Region is solid NDC and we are ready to proceed,” he stressed.
Mr. Akamugri made overt digs at the NPP for the troubles they encountered during the conduct of their polling station level elections saying “normally when you decide to deny some people the opportunity to participate, that is where you run into problems. This is where you have issues with the party’s reorganisation. As long as we migrate the details and do not discriminate in the distribution of the card, then we do not expect to have as it happened in the other party.”
“For us, we are going to be open and transparent and we are going to ensure that the cards are available at the constituency,” he said.
Mr. Akamugri stressed that “nobody is going to be prevented from voting” when the individual’s name appears on the register.
