Management of the Ghana TVET Service, upon the advice of the Upper East Regional Security Council, has closed down the Bawku Technical Institute with immediate effect. The decision follows violent clashes between students of the Bawku Technical Institute and Bawku Senior High School on March 25, 2023.

A statement signed by the Director-General of Technical Vocational Education and Technical Training (TVET) Service, Mawusi Nudekor Awity said the students should therefore vacate the campus immediately.

“However, first-year students will continue to remain on campus to go through registration and orientation until the Easter Break”, it added.

The statement indicated that security services would be on hand to evacuate all the students to protect lives and property. Parents are therefore advised to take steps to pick up their wards from the school while management of the Ghana TVET Service “will keep parents and the general public informed on any new development.”
