Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited is supporting Farmers’ Day celebrations across four assemblies in the Upper East Region with a substantial sum of 110,000 cedis in value of items to honor farmers.

This significant donation has been given to the assemblies to honor hardworking farmers within the company’s catchment area in commemoration of Farmers’ Day. The beneficiary districts include Talensi, Nabdam, Bolgatanga East, and Bongo.

The items include 4 tricycles, 60 pieces of knapsack sprayers, 70 pairs of Wellington boots, 100 pieces of cutlasses, 5 high-density mattresses, 9 boxes of key soap, and 15 bags of fertilizer.

Speaking to A1 Radio before the donation exercise, Emmanuel Kofi Adusei, the Community and Social Responsibility Manager of Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited, stated that the donation is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility to appreciate the contribution of farmers in the region and Ghana as a whole.

“Cardinal Namdini Mining appreciates the contribution of farmers because, without them, we would not be alive. They provide food for us, and some of them, we have to move to have space for our activities. This is our way of contributing and supporting them for the sustainability of food in the region and the country.”

Mr. Adusei urged farmers to maintain the motor tricycles to ensure they last longer. The Talensi District Coordinating Director, Clifford Baba Atanga, expressed gratitude to Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited for its generous gesture.

“Indeed, you have been supporting the district in countless ways. Farmers’ Day, in particular, is an occasion that you never cease to support us. Today’s presentation is yet another manifestation of your commitment to supporting the progress of this district,” he stated.

Mr. Atanga emphasized the need for a deepened mutual relationship between the assembly and the company, adding that the assembly would continue to offer its support to the company “to ensure that all the efforts the company is making will be completed within the time for actual mining to take place.”

Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited, a Chinese firm and subsidiary of Shandong Gold, operates in the Talensi district of the Upper East. The company was granted a license for 15 years to undertake surface mining, with the expectation that it will pour its first gold in the last quarter of 2024.

For the 15-year mine life, it is estimated that the company will generate 150 million tonnes of ore for 5 million ounces of gold.
