The Member of Parliament for Bongo Constituency, Lawyer Charles Bawa Duah, has delivered on his promise to support storm-ravaged schools and a CHPS compound following a devastating rainstorm that struck the Bongo District in March 2025.

In a significant step toward restoring critical infrastructure, the MP has reroofed nine schools and one Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound, ensuring that teaching, learning, and healthcare delivery can continue without disruption.

The facilities that benefited from this intervention are Leenbiisi–Moshidabooro Primary School, Tankoo Primary School, Tankoo Junior High School, Dua Yikene Primary School, Awaah Primary School, Rev. Father Lebel Primary School, Zorkor Senior High School, Awaah Junior High School, Beo Boko Primary School and Wagliga CHPS Compound.

Speaking during the inspection of the completed works, Lawyer Bawa Duah said he was compelled to act after witnessing the level of destruction.

“The storm came to us as a major shock. It severely affected education delivery in this constituency. Many schoolchildren had to sit under trees, in churches, or had no place to learn at all. With the District Assembly lacking the resources, I took it upon myself to mobilize funds to restore these essential facilities,” the MP explained.

The MP was accompanied by John Ankoh, Acting District Director of Education, and Joseph Akasake Abaah, the Bongo District Chief Executive. Mr. Ankoh expressed gratitude, noting that the intervention has brought immense relief to students, teachers, and community members.

“This support has allowed normal academic activities to resume in the affected schools. The positive impact on both teaching and learning cannot be overstated,” he said.

DCE Joseph Akasake Abaah commended the MP’s timely response and pledged to address the insufficient furniture situation in the district to further improve conditions for both students and teachers.

The initiative by MP Charles Bawa Duah highlights the importance of responsive leadership and the role of elected officials in building resilient educational and health infrastructure across Ghana’s Upper East Region.
