Asakia Hawawu Hanaan, first runner-up of the 2025 Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB) pageant, says she is embarking on an outreach initiative to inspire students in underserved communities, recounting how her own dream was sparked 13 years ago after meeting former GMB winner Queen Poka.

In a Facebook post, Hanaan described the encounter as a “full-circle moment,” recalling how, as a young student, she was selected to meet Queen Poka after her crowning. The meeting, she wrote, left a lasting impression that reshaped her ambitions.

“That moment planted a seed of possibility, fueling years of hard work, unwavering belief, and relentless dedication,” she wrote. “It changed the trajectory of my life.”

Hanaan said she is now visiting schools to share her story with students facing challenging circumstances, encouraging them to believe that their dreams are achievable.

“I am visiting students in underserved and deprived areas, looking into their eyes and sharing my truth: Nothing is impossible,” she said. “If a girl who came from humble beginnings… can achieve this, then what is their excuse?”

She noted that her goal is to motivate young people to see beyond their current situations and pursue opportunities with confidence and determination.

“The torch of inspiration has been passed, and I am honored to carry it,” she said.

The GMB pageant, one of Ghana’s most-viewed cultural contests, is known for propelling young women into advocacy roles focused on social development and cultural promotion. Hanaan’s message continues in that tradition, emphasizing hope and empowerment for the next generation.
