The Alagumgube group has welcomed the announcement by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson regarding the construction of the Bolgatanga Airport, as part of the 2026 Budget Statement.
In a statement, the group expressed heartfelt appreciation to the government and the Finance Minister for the decision, describing it as a “major step toward fulfilling our collective dream of improved connectivity and development” for the Upper East Region.
The group, which has long advocated for an airport in the region, also congratulated its members for their dedication and efforts in achieving this milestone. The construction of the airport is expected to enhance regional connectivity and spur development.
Dr. Forson had announced that the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) would introduce an “Airport Development Fee” to finance key aviation infrastructure projects, including the rehabilitation of Sunyani Airport and the construction of the Bolgatanga Airport.
