The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has donated large quantities of tea, sugar, and milk to the Muslim community in the constituency to support them during the holy month of Ramadan.
The items included 222 boxes of tea, each containing twenty-four individual packs of Lipton tea, as well as 150 bags of sugar and 150 packs of milk, with each pack made up of twenty-four units. The donation is expected to help families observing the fasting period break their fast and ease some of the financial burden that comes with the month-long religious observance.
The gesture, the MP’s team says, forms part of what has become a long-standing tradition by the lawmaker, who has consistently supported Muslim communities in the constituency during Ramadan for the past 13 years.
The annual exercise has come to symbolize his commitment to strengthening community relations and providing support to residents, particularly during significant religious periods.
A statement signed by Job Aboyom, the Communication Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Bolgatanga Central, noted that the donation reflects the MP’s dedication to the welfare of his constituents and his efforts to promote unity within the constituency.
According to the statement, the support has, over the years, been warmly welcomed by members of the Muslim community, who rely on such contributions to help sustain families during the fasting period.
The statement added that beyond the material support, the initiative demonstrates the importance of solidarity and compassion among residents of the constituency, especially during Ramadan, which emphasizes charity, sacrifice, and togetherness.
The Muslim community in the constituency expressed appreciation to the MP for maintaining the tradition and remembering them each year during the sacred month. They noted that the supplies would go a long way in supporting households as they observe the daily fast and evening prayers.
