The Upper East Regional Women Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Georgina Ayamba, has announced her intention to contest the party’s First Vice Chairperson position in the region.

Madam Ayamba, who was speaking exclusively on A1 Radio, highlighted her leadership experience, grassroots mobilization efforts, and vision to strengthen the party’s structures ahead of future elections.

According to her, her decision to contest the position follows extensive consultations and a desire to serve the party in a higher leadership capacity.

“I have done the necessary consultations, and I want to say I will put myself to contest the regional first vice position,” she stated. “I will appeal to delegates that I am putting myself before them to vote for me and make me the regional First Vice Chairperson of the NPP.”

Madam Ayamba emphasized that her tenure as Regional Women Organizer has equipped her with the needed experience to take on the new role. She noted that her focus on grassroots mobilization, particularly among women, has significantly contributed to strengthening the party’s base in the region.

“I have focused on mobilization, mobilizing the women at the grassroots level,” she explained. “With the support of my team and executives at all levels, I can say boldly that I have made the women’s wing attractive, and it has encouraged many women to join our party activities.”

She added that her leadership has helped change perceptions about women’s participation in politics, leading to increased involvement of women in key roles within the party.

“As of now, women are showing up in our party to hold key positions that never happened before. It is because my team and I have been able to bring them out and make them active participants,” she said.

Madam Ayamba further outlined some of the initiatives she has spearheaded, including entrepreneurship training, mentorship programmes, and building strong networks among women across constituencies.

“I have built strong women relationships across constituency networks and organized a series of entrepreneurship workshops, including soap-making and other skills training,” she noted. “These efforts have empowered many women and motivated them to actively participate in both economic and political activities.”

Touching on her vision for the First Vice Chairperson role, Madam Ayamba pledged to work closely with party executives to strengthen unity and communication within the party.
“I will work closely with the regional chairman to strengthen the unity of the party and improve communication at the grassroots level,” she said. “I am always accessible, and I will ensure that we bridge communication gaps and mobilize resources to support party activities.”

She also underscored the importance of unity, particularly after internal elections, noting that her ability to listen and engage stakeholders would help resolve grievances and foster cohesion.

“I am a good listener, and that alone helps calm tensions. When people feel heard, they are more willing to work together,” she added. “I will work with all stakeholders to ensure that we unite more than before.”

Madam Ayamba expressed confidence that her track record and commitment to service position her well to support the party’s growth in the Upper East Region, which has traditionally been a stronghold of the opposition.
