The Upper East Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Peter Ayinbisa, has rejected claims that he sidelined party communicators who campaigned against the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, ahead of the 31st January presidential primaries.

His response follows allegations made by a caller on Bolga FM’s “Zina Yela” programme, who accused him of deliberately excluding some prominent party voices from radio discussions because they did not support Dr. Bawumia’s candidature.

Among those cited were Maxwell Aburiya and Peter Anyorka, both of whom were active on radio before the primaries. Mr. Aburiya, the NPP Bolgatanga Central Constituency Organizer of the NPP, served as the Upper East Regional Campaign Coordinator for Dr. Bryan Acheampong, while Mr. Anyorka worked as the Regional Communications Officer for the campaign team of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

The two were regular panelists on Bolga FM’s flagship political show, where they defended the party’s policies and criticized the government and the National Democratic Congress (NDC). However, their absence from the programme since the primaries sparked speculation of internal exclusion.

But Mr. Ayinbisa dismissed the claims, insisting that no communicator had been sidelined because of their political alignment during the primaries.

“I have never sidelined any communicator because of the camp they belonged to,” he stated. “The party is one, and after the primaries, we are all working towards a common goal.”

He explained that assignments for radio appearances are rotated across various stations in the region and are not limited to a single platform.

“Maxwell Aburiya, for instance, is still actively engaged. On a weekly basis, he is assigned to represent the party on different radio stations,” Mr. Ayinbisa clarified.

He added that the absence of specific individuals on Bolga FM should not be misconstrued as marginalization.

“The fact that someone has not appeared on Bolga FM does not mean the person has been sidelined. There are several platforms, and we ensure fair distribution of opportunities,” he said.

Mr. Ayinbisa, who openly supported Dr. Bawumia ahead of the primaries, stressed the need for unity within the party as it prepares for the 2028 general elections.

“We must move beyond internal contests and focus on strengthening the party to win power,” he emphasized.
