Bongo NADMO Director laments poor conditions of service for staff

The Bongo District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Patrick Anamoo, has raised concerns about the deteriorating conditions of service for staff, describing them as “nothing to write home about.”

Speaking on Bolga FM’s Tingmaalgo Sanga programme on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, Mr. Anamoo said the situation is worrying and requires urgent attention.

He also revealed that the office is grappling with operational setbacks. Upon assuming office, he inherited an empty warehouse, severely limiting the organisation’s ability to respond promptly to disasters with relief items.

“We are rebuilding from scratch,” he said.

Despite the challenges, NADMO is stepping up preparedness ahead of what is expected to be an intense rainy season.

Mr. Anamoo noted ongoing coordination between NADMO and key agencies, including the Ghana National Fire Service, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), and the Ghana Red Cross Society, to reduce emergency response times and improve outcomes.

Touching on the broader financial outlook, he expressed concern about sustainability, stating that funds expected from the District Assemblies Common Fund have not yet been received to support operations.

“The fund is not sustainable,” he said. “But we do have mechanisms in place to request emergency support when needed.”
