The Member of Parliament for Bongo Constituency, Lawyer Charles Bawaduah, has undertaken emergency interventions to restore teaching and learning in schools affected by a recent windstorm in the Bongo district.
The exercise saw the re-roofing of several basic schools, including Akulyoo Primary School, Bogrigo Primary School, Ghana-da’a Primary School, and St. Augustine Primary School, all of which suffered severe damage during the storm.
The intervention, according to a press release issued by the District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Patrick Anamoo, is aimed at ensuring that pupils return to safe classrooms and that academic work resumes without interruption.
In addition to the emergency repairs, the MP has also facilitated the completion of a three-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Akulyoo Primary School. The move is expected to ease congestion and improve the overall learning environment for pupils in the community.
The press release further indicated that residents of Akulyoo are set to benefit from the provision of 29 hand pump boreholes recently awarded to the area. The project is expected to enhance access to clean and potable water, addressing a long-standing challenge in the community.
