The District Chief Executive for Bongo, Diana Ayamga Asoketarige, has inspected the proposed site for a 24-hour economy market at Zorko Kanga as part of efforts to assess readiness for the project and engage residents ahead of construction.

The visit forms part of the government’s broader 24-hour economy initiative aimed at boosting local trade, creating jobs and expanding economic activity through extended market operations.

During the visit, Ms. Asoketarige met with chiefs, traders and residents to discuss the proposed project and listen to concerns and suggestions from the community.

She assured residents of the government’s commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of the project to improve livelihoods and expand business opportunities in the district.

“The establishment of this market will not only promote commercial activities but also position Bongo as a growing economic hub,” the DCE said.

She called on residents to support the project and cooperate with authorities throughout the implementation process.

Residents who interacted with the DCE welcomed the initiative and described the proposed market as a major step toward economic growth and development in the district.

The government’s 24-hour economy policy seeks to increase productivity and trade by enabling businesses to operate around the clock, supported by improved infrastructure, security and essential services.
