The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, has commissioned an six-unit classroom block at Gbedema to improve access to quality education in the district.
The newly commissioned facility, funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), includes an auxiliary six-seater water closet, electricity connection, ceiling fans and marker boards. The classroom block will serve as a primary school for the Gbedema community and is expected to create a more conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Thursday, Dr. Apaak reaffirmed his commitment to improving educational infrastructure across Builsa South, emphasising that quality facilities remain essential to enhancing academic performance and ensuring better outcomes for learners.
He noted that investment in educational infrastructure forms a critical part of efforts to secure the future of children in the district.
“This project is part of our broader vision to ensure that every child in Builsa South has access to quality education in a conducive environment,” he stated.
On behalf of the people of Gbedema, the Chief of the community, Nab Nkrumah Apaarinchang, expressed appreciation to the MP for the intervention, describing the project as timely and transformative for education delivery in the area.
In a related development, Dr. Apaak presented 4,348 mono desks with tables to the Builsa South Education Directorate at Fumbisi Senior High School for onward distribution to senior high and junior high schools across the district.
He explained that the provision of desks was prioritised because adequate furniture remains critical to teaching and learning. According to him, the desks were also funded through GETFund support.
To further strengthen education supervision, Dr. Apaak donated four motorbikes to School Improvement Support Officers (SISOs) to enhance monitoring activities across various school circuits.
He stressed that effective supervision is key to improving standards and accountability within the education sector, adding that the motorbikes would enable officers to discharge their duties efficiently.
Receiving the items on behalf of the District Education Director, Mr. Akumzeyam Stephen Ajubil, Deputy Director in charge of Monitoring and Supervision, thanked the MP for the support and assured that the desks and motorbikes would be distributed fairly to achieve their intended purpose.
The Headmaster of Fumbisi Senior High School, Mr. Michael Adapim, also expressed gratitude and appealed to Dr. Apaak to prioritise the construction of a perimeter fence and other infrastructure projects to further enhance teaching and learning at the school.
