Managing Director of Kacstone Records, Wenawome Aborah, has dismissed claims that his philanthropic activities and community development initiatives are motivated by political ambitions.
Speaking on A1 Radio ahead of the commissioning of a newly constructed volleyball court at Paga Senior High School (PAGA SHS), Mr. Aborah said support for communities should not automatically be interpreted as a quest for political office.
According to him, individuals and organisations should be encouraged to contribute to development efforts without being subjected to political speculation.
“A lot of people are thinking that one way or the other I have intentions of running for a political position. I want to use your platform to state clearly that I do not intend doing so because I don’t want people to think that it is only when you have ambitions to become a politician that you need to support your community or society,” he said.
Mr. Aborah argued that such perceptions discourage well-meaning individuals from investing their time and resources in community development.
“I want to dispel that notion so that whoever has any little support to give can freely do so without people attaching political motives to it,” he added.
He explained that the volleyball court project at PAGA SHS forms part of Kacstone Records’ broader commitment to supporting education and youth development in the Upper East Region.
Mr. Aborah also called for increased government support for educational institutions in the region, citing infrastructure and resource challenges facing many schools.
“PAGA SHS is one of the schools that we want government, as a matter of urgency, to pay attention to. Not only PAGA SHS, but the whole region has a lot of issues to deal with. We need government support,” he stated.
The volleyball court is scheduled to be commissioned during a two-day programme on Friday and Saturday, which will feature an inter-schools volleyball tournament involving selected senior high schools from the Kassena-Nankana Municipal and Kassena-Nankana West District.
According to Mr. Aborah, about 10 schools, made up of both boys’ and girls’ teams, have been invited to participate in the competition.
He said the tournament is intended not only to unveil the facility but also to promote sports development, strengthen social interaction among students and increase public awareness of the school.
The initiative is also expected to attract visitors and stakeholders to PAGA SHS, potentially creating opportunities for additional support and investment to improve educational infrastructure and student welfare.
Mr. Aborah expressed hope that the project would contribute to youth development while encouraging broader community participation in supporting education across the region.
