The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has reaffirmed his commitment to youth empowerment and community development by sponsoring the 2026 Ramadan Soccer Fiesta – Eidul-Adha Edition, held at the Bolgatanga Central Mobile Park.
The tournament, which brought together eight football teams from across the constituency, climaxed with a grand finale attended by hundreds of football enthusiasts, players, community members, and supporters.
Mr. Adongo’s support for the competition amounted to GHC23,000, in addition to the provision of footballs and jerseys for participating teams. The sponsorship was aimed at promoting sports development, strengthening community bonds, and providing a platform for young people to showcase their talents.
As part of the support package, each of the eight participating teams received an appearance fee of GHC1,000, bringing the total to GHC8,000. The Member of Parliament also provided one football to each team to support their sporting activities.
The four semi-finalist teams received a set of jerseys each, while an amount of GHC5,000 was allocated to support the organization of the tournament. Another GHC5,000 was provided to facilitate the work of match officials and organizers.
At the end of the competition, the winning team received a cash prize of GHC3,000, while the second runners-up took home GHC2,000 in recognition of their performance.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Adongo commended the organizers and participants for contributing to the success of the tournament, noting that sports remain an important tool for promoting unity, discipline, peace, and social cohesion among young people.
He observed that the competition had succeeded in bringing together people from different communities and backgrounds, creating an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding.
The Bolgatanga Central legislator stressed that investing in sports is an investment in the future of the youth, adding that opportunities such as the Ramadan Soccer Fiesta help nurture talents while keeping young people actively engaged in productive activities.
He reiterated his commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to the development of young people and the overall progress of the constituency.
The tournament formed part of activities marking the Eid al-Adha celebrations and attracted large crowds throughout the competition, culminating in a colourful finale at the Bolgatanga Central Mobile Park.
The Communication Officer for Bolgatanga Central, Job Aboyom, said the initiative reflects the Member of Parliament’s continuous efforts to promote youth development, community engagement, and peaceful coexistence within the constituency.
He noted that the success of the tournament demonstrated the unifying power of sports and its potential to contribute to social development across the constituency.
