The Upper East Regional Police Command has arrested a suspected notorious masked armed robber and his alleged accomplice in connection with a robbery attack at Zaari, a suburb of Bolgatanga.
The prime suspect, identified as 26-year-old Jeffrey Alentis, was arrested at Zorbisi in Bolgatanga following an intelligence-led operation by the police.
According to the Police Command, the suspect allegedly carried out a robbery attack in the early hours of June 16, 2026. The victim, a female resident of Zaari, was asleep in her room when the suspect reportedly scaled the fence wall of her residence and gained access to the house through the kitchen while wearing a face mask.
Police said the suspect attacked the victim with pepper spray before making away with a laptop computer and a Samsung Galaxy A07 mobile phone. He allegedly forced the victim to disclose the password to her phone and her mobile money PIN before fleeing the scene.
Following investigations, police tracked and arrested Jeffrey Alentis at his hideout in Zorbisi. During interrogation, he reportedly led investigators to an alleged accomplice, Moro Mohammed, a mobile phone dealer.
The police subsequently retrieved all the stolen items from Moro Mohammed and placed both suspects in custody to assist with ongoing investigations.
The Upper East Regional Police Command has assured residents of its commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of law-abiding citizens across the region.
In a statement signed by the Regional Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Abdul-Rahman Sumaila, the Command reaffirmed its resolve to intensify efforts against criminal activities and urged the public to continue supporting the police with credible information to aid crime-fighting efforts.
The suspects are expected to face further legal processes as investigations continue.
